I set of to climb mt. kili with my younger brother, Darryl, in the summer of 2005. i was not physically ready (did no training what so ever) i was really nervous and afraid that i would not make it. but i did. because my guides and porters where amazing. the last past in pitch darkness and 3 hours of sleep was probably the most unforgettable experience of my life. i was one of the 'lucky' climbers who got the bad weather. high winds, snow and a little hail made that the hardest thing that i ever did in my life. i was very dissappointed when i got to Uhuru Peak that i could not see further than my hand, luckyly i found the sign, but my camera (and water) were frozen. my dedicated guide William had icicles coming of his facial hair.. including his eye lashes. i had no idea what yeti i looked like. coming down was fun, but after a while my shins and ankles hurt like hell, from irregular surfaces and loose soil. but i made it and will never forget it. i will definately climb mt. kili again. only because i was not satisfied with the 'view from the top' the experiences through rainforest, moor land, semi desert and deserts was amazing. this mountain is truly one of the most divese and evidence of original beauty in nature, INCREDIBLE even though at certain times during the climb i did not think so. i met alot of amazing people and guides as well.
