Climbed Kilimanjaro via the Marangu route in Feb 2006. Weather was perfect and the climb is very straightforward until the summit attempt. Leaving Kibo hut takes about 5-7hrs to reach Gilman's point at the crater rim and a further 2hrs to reach the true summit at Uhuru peak. Hardest 2hrs of my life, -16c, biting wind and total fatigue due to altitude. People being physically sick etc. Take it as slow as you can, but keep moving as you will get too cold. Make sure you have a good guide, they will get you there. It's all worth it when you finally reach the summit and take that all important picture at the sign. One piece of advice - don't scrimp on gloves - buy mountain mits, this will make a big difference. Good luck and respect to all that reach Uhuru...
