My husband and I did the seven day trek using the Machame Route. We had an unbelievable time. The weather at the lower altitudes was quite wet with lots of mist and rain and even some hail but the night of the summit the skies were clear and the moon full making for a goreous summit push. We reached Uhurhu Peak at approximately 8:00am on the morning of the 4th to find a thick blanket of snow underfoot which only added to our overall enjoyment and the mysique of the mountain.
For anyone thinking of doing this trek, my husband and I would highly recommend the seven-day trek. Also, as always, be prepared to drink on average 4-5 liters of water a day and have very good rain gear no matter the season. Finally, color-coded gear is a good idea since trying to find gear in the middle of the night that is all of the same color (black!) can be a slight nightmare.
