Iascended via the northern Rongai route which begins near the Kenyan border. It is a more gentle incline but steep in places nontheless. I took about
a week which was perfect for acclimitization. We summitted shortly before sunrise after climbing ALL night long with only one 10 minute break at Myers Cave. ( Hide a bottle of water for the trip back!) The hardest part of climbing Kili was the trip down as my toes were black and blue from hitting and stopping my fall aginst the front of my boots. But all sooooooo worth it! 10 days...no TV, iPods, cars,
or luxuries of the world. What were the bathroom facilities like? Let's put it this way....anything I left on the trail, judging by quantity alone, probably didn't scare the elephants and water buffalo which I was competeing with the entire journey!
