Mount Kilimanjaro Trip Report (#3614)

I actually attempted Kili two weeks earlier and had to descend due to altitude sickness... flashy lights, liquid coming out of my ear, horrible headache, jerky movement... I tried again and made it to the peak with no problems. The hike (Machame Route) was absolutely gorgeous. It was certainly difficult and it helped tremendously to take it slowly... or "pole pole" as the porters advise. By the way, if you want to get a chuckle out of the porters, ask "Niitie taxi?" every once in a while. It means "Can someone call a taxi?"
If I can answer any questions, feel free to shoot me an email. I would love to assist!
