Mount Kilimanjaro Trip Report (#3615)

The trek was amazing. I attribute a large part of my experience to the outfitter(F&S Kiliwarrior). The country of Tanzania and its people are as much a part of the trip as the mountain.
My top two suggestions if you are planning on making this trip are:
1) Climb the Western Breach Route - This route is far less traveled and allows for more acclimitazation. The other, standard routes have a high-traffic volume and very crowded campsites. Taking this route, with an outfitter with the appropriate gear, will allow you to stay at Private Campsites. 2) Climb with F&S Kiliwarrior - I spoke with numerous climbers from other tour companies and also witnessed first-hand what can happen if you choose the wrong company. I cannot recommend this company highly enough.
Like most people, I performed an exhaustive search of Kilimanjaro trip operators. Everything with this company is First-Rate: Mountain equipment, safety gear, food, experienced and knowledgable guides.
General Route Description: At its hardest sections, the Western Breach route would only be considered a Class 2 route. Easy for any mountaineer or hiker and still very doable for someone who is new to hiking and can spend a few months training.
Too much detail for such a small space. I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have about the mountain or the trip.
