Summited this month in five days. Some words of advice on things to take that you might not think of: -- if you live below 5,000 feet, take diamox! start it three days before your climb and continue it throughout. Don't wait to get sick to take it. -- sunscreen for your lips. Descending from Gillman's, the sun will be right in your face for several hours. I wore sunscreen on my face, but my lips were burned so bad, they peeled for a week. Painful! -- Rolaids. take several a day. people tend to have stomach problems not only because of the altitude but because they're eating food and drinking water in a foreign place. Take several before your summit push. Also, there is some evidence that Rolaids can help play a role in preventing altitude sickness. -- spenco blister kit or similar. take care of your feet and they'll take care of you :) -- chemical hand warmers. one in each glove on summit day will make you a whole lot happier. -- earplugs for the huts. if you're a light sleeper, they'll help you catch some z's.
Have fun! Don't turn around at Gillman's! You're almost there!
