my twin sister, cecile had attempted to summit in 1999,but a freak blizzard caused all to turn back. it was a white out condition.,was with great team, thomson safaris. having unfinished business was not something my sister did, so she recruited me, to go back and finish this feat.went with thomson again, since they are truely the best in the business.we are 57 years, 110 pounds, and very strong willed. we trained for 6 months, mostly for endurance on 15 mile hikes with up and down hills. both very fit.well, we went the western breach route because the summit is during the daylight. this is a more difficult route, but with a rest day, we both made it in fine form. advice: i needed more upper body strenth for scramble up breach wall. my guide was helping me the last few rocks. take what foods you can eat when you are nauseated. drink at least 4 liters a day, take diamox the whole time.listen to your guide, as they are the experts.you will make it with a strong mind and be prepared for a lot of rain , cold and maybe snow.enjoy each day. it is a beautiful experience.
