Real flat plains for 3/4 of the journey ; take your time to walk, rehydrate well & get plenty of sleep during the acclimatisation days. Summit walk starts mid-night amidst the cold, clear starry night, pace was so slow that one could literally fall asleep while walking. Slowly but surely, we ascended the scree slope & summited at sunrise, a cool 6 hours of walking. Further to Gilman's is Uhuru point, the ultimate peak at 5895m.
