Mount Kilimanjaro Trip Report (#3825)
- Signed By: Fritz Atschreiter
- Date submitted: March 07, 2004
We, four Austrians (Willi Weissensteiner, Karl Aflenzer,
Robert Berger and Fritz Atschreiter), have reached the
top of Kilimanjaro via Machame Route and Western Breach
during a 6 days/5 nights tour. We think that this way
is the most exciting one, especially the night klimb
from Arrow Glacier Camp. We started at 0:30 , reached
Uhuru Peak at 6:30 and saw the Sun rise. Because of the
Moon and the Snow which fell the day before we did not
need our lamps, it was absolutely wonderful.
Not that wonderful was the descent (2.800 m and nearly
15 km distance) to the Mweka Hut.
We want to say Thank You once again to Mr. Thomas Lyimo,
Managing Director of Transkibo Travels in Moshi for the
excellent cooperation during the planning of our trip
and our guides Baltasar and Ewodi and all our porters
for the more than excellent tour guidance. We know,
what other groups hat to pay and saw which support
they have got.
