kili is as easy or as hard as you make it. we saw many people suffering the affects of altitude during our ascent. one swiss girl in particular, blue in the face and supported between her two guides. her collegues fared little better. this was only at machame hut at 8000 feet. it proves that one cannot just fly into nairobi and within a day or so be climbing the highest peak in africa. aclimatisation is a must and the nearby mt meru is an ideal training climb for its bigger brother. dont rush on kili slow progress is best. we found those who started too quickly or without sufficient preparation were often seen doubled up in agony and turning every shade of green. anyhow, this is too beautiful a place to miss by rushing headlong to the summit. enjoy this mountain for most of us it will be our one and only chnce to experience this wonderful mountain.
