Anybody attempting this should certainely go slowly especially in the early stages and definately at Kibo area upto the summit. Never forget your sun glasses and sunblock/sunscreen factor 25 at least. We had trekkers who took these pieces of kit but didn't wear them consiquently they got snow blindness and 3rd degree burns and the sun wasn't even shining it was snowing! One piece of kit I found to be of use was a compact umbrella! (as well as gortex waterproofs). Having an asprine & codine combined tablets helps with altitude sickness (can be obtained from Boots) as well as drinking lots of water. I found trekking poles brilliant as they helped me stay up right all the way to the summit.
