Mount Kilimanjaro Trip Report (#3973)

Kilimanjaro is a dormant volcano that stands 5895m(19340ft) high just south of the equator in Tanzania - East Africa. It is the highest mountain in Africa and also the tallest free-standing mountain on earth. Kilimanjaro resembles the classic shape of a volcano with permanent glaciers flowing down from the summit. There are several routes to the top. With the advice and guidance of our tour operator, Wild Frontiers and our guide Elias, our group chose the less used but more attractive and challenging Machame/Arrow Glacier route up the western face. This is a more difficult hiking route, but most rewarding with spectacular views of the glaciers.Feel free to e-mail me for pics of Kili.
