Kings Peak Trip Report (#4127)

I came in from China Meadows this time and prefer it over the much more crowded Henrys Fork. Camped at East Red Castle Lake. Only one other camp that I seen and not a bug in site. The hike to kings from Red Castle is a little long and requires climbing 2 passes. Smith Fork Pass and Andersons Pass, but the solitude in worth the extra effort. Didn't see another person until I started the final accent to Kings. Have been on Kings Peak 2 other times eariler in the year and this time of year is by far my favorite. As a reminder, if you go this route, you can save a little time by cutting the corner stright to Andersons Pass after you get on the south side of Smith Fork Pass instead of following the trail all the way down and joining the Highline trail. Saves a little time and it takes a good 10 hours to round trip from Red Castle Basin as it is.
