Multiple day trip from Henrys Fork trailhead, first summit trip for James, second for me (Bruce) (prior ascent 8/7/97). Overnight pause at Elkhorn Crossing on day 1 due to late start, mostly cloudy at Henrys Fork Lake on Day 2. Summit on Day 3 with clear blue skies and great weather all day. 5.75 hours to summit from Henrys Fork lake, 12 hr total for ascent and return. From Gunsight pass, we used cairn-marked alternate route up talus/boulder slope SW of Gunsight pass (use worn ravine south of cliffs). Then contour across high plateau to Anderson Pass. Final summit ascent segment from Anderson Pass was VERY tedious with lots of boulder hopping. No clear trail up ridge notwithstanding very heavy traffic every clear day, hence it is of no particular advantage other than some natural clarity of route. Great view in every direction from the top.
