Aperer Feuerstein

Aperer Feuerstein Trip Report (#16653)

This is a rock formation (not really a peak) on the way to the Oestlicher Feuerstein in the Stubai Alps. At well below 3.000 m and surrounded by (higher) glacial mountains, no one would normally consider climbing the Aperer Feuerstein. We however did, as we ran into thick fog on our way to the Feuersteine and were at risk of losing our way on the glacier. The descent to the Nuernberger Huette is long, but very interesting, if you take the way by the Simingjoechl (Don't miss the huge "Gletschertor", a deep cavern into the glacier). Overall, Ranalt - NH - AF - NH - Ranalt is a 10 hours
