Masherbrum

Masherbrum Trip Report (#5282)

My friends and I made 2 attempts on Masherbrum by the standard route in 1999 and 2001. On the last one we've turned back around 7600 m after we've spent over three hours to advance 150 m in the deep unconsolidated snow just below the final rock tower. Though there is no technical rock up to this point, one shouldn't regard the climbing on Masherbroom as easy, for there is plenty of steep ice, especially between camps 1 and 2.
