First day is an easy and very nice climb from 1500 metres from the Momela gate where all begins to the 2500 metres first Hut. Some animals like buffalos, monkeys, dik diks can be seen along the way. Second day from 2500 to 3500 is also easy and very pleasant weather, same sort of animals may be seen. Over night at the second hut. At 3500 metres from the second hut in the morning you may do a bit of climbing to the Little Meru summit at 3800 metrs, and in the afternoon to the Rhino Point at 3800 metres, the climbs are easy and help in the acclimatization process for the last push to the summit. From 3500 metres and at 1AM in the morning we started the trek towards the summit. At this altitude the green vegetation starts to gradually disappear and becomes very rocky. There are a couple of dangerous places that one has to literally crawl against the rocks and the cliff below that because of night we cant see (thank God) as the walk progresses into the early morning hours the soild becomes more and more rocky and difficult to climb. I cant say that it was extremely cold but yet it was cold. Luckily it did not rain during the final climb and 7 hours 35 minutes after we reached the summit. Great experience, great climb, not easy but worth the try.
