Buffalo Mountain

Buffalo Mnt Park in Johnson City TN has over 15 miles of hiking trails in a 700 acre biosphere preserve. Several trails in the park lead to the Tip Top summit area (3300 ft) and traverse the ridge to white rocks, with views into VA and NC. The park closes at dark. There are other trails to the top of the mountain if the park gates are closed. One is accross the railroad tracks from White Rocks trailer park on the old Erwin Highway. There is also a horse trail near Unicoi. All trails within the park are foot travel only, although a gravel road exists for mountain bikers. Some of the trails are lungbusters, but all are short (4.2 miles or less)
