Deer Mountain Trip Report (#17062)

Peter, Linda & Ben Alexander (11) hiked up Deer Mountain from the Deer Ridge Junction trailhead. This is an easy hike, with a fine trail all the way to the top. It's a nice warm-up and acclimatization hike if you've just come up from some place like Iowa City (el. 600), since it gets you above 10,000 ft. and isn't difficult for the first day in the mountains. Nice views of the Rocky Mountain National Park, the Mummy Range, Estes Park and the surronding area. Because the trail leaves from the main road through the park, this can be crowded, but if you do it in the fall as we did, it's not bad.
