A fine mountain, particularly if climbed as part of the "Fairfield Horsehoe", taking in Nab Scar, Heron Pike, Great Rigg, Hart Crag, Dove Crag and High Pike (approx 12 miles). Best done in the order given above, starting from Rydal (bus from Ambleside) and returning via High Sweden Bridge to Ambleside.

    Ascended via the coast to coast route from Grasmere. This is a fine route as the first part to the ridge above Grizedale Tarn is straightforward and the ascent to the top is a bit more challenging....
