Snowmass Mountain Trip Report (#7173)

After receiving 2-3 inches of snow high on the peak and where the standard route moves from the ridge to ascend the "backside" of the peak for the last 250' or so, it was difficult to move up using just vibram-soled boots without a lot of slipping (very nervewracking). It was possible to leave crampons on and climb in something of a "mixed" style--using the crampon points for rock climbing where rubber didn't feel secure. Of course the points also helped for the remaining patches of "non-recent" snow and the loose dirt and rock sections.
