Altough it is not the highest mountain in the region, Mount Guglielmo is one of the most known peak of the eastern Lombardy. It's a large, massive mountain, usually snow-covered from November to April. On the highest point of its flat summit was built a 50-feet tall monument in honor to the Reedemer. There are several ways to climb the mountain; the easiest (but the longest) is the road from Zone (a nice village on the western flanks of Mount Guglielmo) to Marone's Cross pass, from where another road (unhautorized access is denied for cars and motocycles) leads to Almici Hut, open from June to September. From this shelter, it takes about 1/2 hour by walk for the summit. There, a beautiful view of the surrounding Lake Iseo and the whole central Padana plain can be tasted.
