Mount Ypsilon Trip Report (#7218)

The approach to Ypsilon is fairly long from the east side, 5 miles to Ypsilon Lake at the base of the eastern face. Deep pockets of snow remain into summer in the shady gullies surrounding the eastern approach. I have post holed my way to Spectacle Lakes, dubbed "Sphincter Lakes" by me and a friend during that grueling trip. Keep in mind that a very large cornice forms on the top of the east face and Spectacle Lakes is at the receiving end of it should it fall.
