Mount Temple Trip Report (#7357)

We've climbed fast (3:45); we've climbed slowly (5:30 and 6:30). All very enjoyable days. Thanks to Alan Kane and his book for description of the mountain, and particularly the three rock bands. That helped us a lot. In 1997 we were escorted out by 4 park rangers who closed off the area that day because of a bear eating lunch at the log bridge about half way through Larch Valley. Why would a bear stop there for lunch? Because that's where the people stopped to have THEIR lunch, which became the bear's lunch. Why not at least get up to the col where bears may be less likely ? People ! Good idea to leave the area open now for "groups". Hear that's working out better than the old system which resulted in shutting the area down most eptembers.
