Government Peak

Government peak is great hike in the Porcupine Mountains of Michigan. It begins with trail and evantually you start the hike to the top. A great view from the top. It can be a little steep at times to where switchbacks are neccesary. It may take a few days of backpacking or snowshoeing before you start upwards toward the top. The Porcupine Mountains is located in the UP snowbelt and showshoeing is great here. Backpacking in the Porkies is beautiful in the fall, and is when its best.

Great Scenery. Looks like there was a old firetower at the top. Concrete blocks with bolts. Not a very physical hike.
