Downs Mountain is the northern most 13,000+ foot peak in the Wind River Range, offering a great view of Gannett Peak and easy glacier or snowfield climbing. The mountain is very remote with no trails within 6 miles of the base. The approach via Goat Flat is a strenuous 5 mile crossing of the 12000+ foot plateau from Phillips lake.
