A group of four set out in the afternoon of 10/15/2004 (Friday) intending to get as far up the mountain for the summit run on Saturday. Unfortunately the altitude took its toll on one and we ended up separated prior to reaching Trail Camp. Night was setting in and the temp was dropping. Two of us connected and we got word that the others were safe and down the trail. Fortunately we all re grouped Saturday morning and two set out for the summit. 3.5 hours we made it to the top. The climb is not technically challenging but hiking over 13,000 feet is tough for those that live at sea level. The trail was a bit icy and treacherous but passable with caution. Wind was picking up back at Trail camp so we decided to head lower (Outpost Camp) due to weather concerns. That night, the storm that stranded others arrived and we headed out in gentle snow. We probably made it on the decent conditions of 2004 and feel lucky that we missed the worst of the storm
