Getting to the top was cool. Don't leave you pack at trail crest. My crapons and a hat were stolen when I did. The nights (and days) can be freezing cold even in late june. It's never cold when your climbing. The switchbacks were ice covered and tricky. From trail camp I only had one litter of water. Not enough. Glissading was down the best. 2000 feet in five minutes. They say it is dangerous. But I have skied all my life and found it a great time and timesaver. Watch out for hidden rocks just under the snow. Of the ten who I started with, 4 made it to the top. Determination is the key. A bear wandering within 10 feet of you was disconcerting.
