Mount Whitney Trip Report (#7935)

Great trip. We had a thunderstorm at Trail Camp on July 8 with some serious lightning and simultaneous thunder. It was still snowing when I reached the summit the next morning. Two guys camped up there the night before and I barely saw their tents under the snow. Total of 10 hours up and four back down, but I took my time. That is my recommendation. It's not a marathon -- a battle to see how fast you can complete the task. It is a soul-cleansing ritual. Take your time. Smell the different smells around each bend. Look for wildlife. It's so peaceful if you are not in such a hurry to get to the top and back. I took some great pictures. Check out my web site! Would I do it again? In a second!
