Mt. Helen lies just south of Dawson Pass. It is a fairly gentle walk up loose shale to the summit which lies behind a false summit, as viewed from Dawson Pass. The climb has very few places that require scrambling or that offer exposure. The south side drops almost vertically into upper two medicine lake. Views from the summit include southern Glacier National Park as well as Northern Great Bear and Bob Marshall Wilderness peaks.
