Camped near the Reclusa Refuge, which seemed OK despite threatening signs....Started out at 5.30 am by torchlight to avoid afternoon storms on the way back. Glacier covered in soft snow and crampons were pretty useless for much of it, most people just use poles. Got to the summit at 9.20 after picking across the Pas de Mahomet which was great fun, its nice chunky granite and easy even for a non-climber like me (when its dry and warm!). Started back at 10.00, the Glacier was getting a bit slushy lower down. Back to Reclusia by 12.30 with achy knees from the rocky final descent, and after a rest headed across the Benasque Valley into France. The expected storms didn't come until 4.00 am in the morning when I nearly got toasted camping at Refuge de Venasque!. Aneto was a great end to my trip, walking from Cauterets along the HRP and GR11.
