Aneto Peak is the highest of the Pyrenees and the third of Spain. This is a popular moutain because it requires some mixted skills, both ice and rock climbing. It is wise to do the climb in two days. First you climb from the Hospital parking - 1900 m hight to the Reclusa refuge at 2140 m. We started at 5h during the night, we reached the upper portillon (gate) at 7h (altitude 2700 m. Then we walk about 1 h in a rock maze to the icefield of Madaleta. According to me, crampons are compulsory because the ice is sharp with no snow. The main difficulty is close to the top, the famous "Mahomet step". Just remain cautious and you will succeed to reach to top of the Pyrenees.
The descent is long and boring because there is not a clear way to reach the valley.
Good luck !
