Lane Peak is located in the Tatoosh Range to the east of Pinnacle Peak and Plummer Peak. It's set within the southern part of Mount Rainier National Park. The standard climbing route is from the Pinnacle Saddle Trail, or as part of the Tatoosh Range Traverse. The summit is reached from the south slope via a class 4 scramble.
Lane Peak is named for Franklin Knight Lane who served as United States Secretary of the Interior from 1913 to 1920 and presided over the creation of the National Park Service in 1917.
