Foel Fras is a great big lump in the middle of the Carneddau range in Snowdonia, North Wales. It is a mostly steep walk up and conditions can deteriote rapidly, despite only being 3100 ft. MJ
The peak is the northernmost of the Welsh 3000 foot summits and is easily reached from Abergwyngregyn near Aber Falls. Instead of taking the path to the falls from the car park head on up the road and follow the wide track over the neighbouring summit of Drum.
You have a good chance of having the summit to youself as this area is less popular than the peaks further south and the top affords expansive views of the sea on one side and the lonely heights of the Carneddau range on the other. PB
|Best months for climbing:||Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec|
