Mount Gede

Featured photo of Mount Gede

Mount Gede (Gunung Gede) and Pangrango form a 'pair' of strato volcanoes, app. 2 hours south of Jakarta (capital of Indonesia)

Walk up (with some srambling over roots and washed out path) takes app 4 hours from Gunung Putri (1450 a.s.l.) and app 3 hours down. With some breaks it can be done in less than 10 hours in one day. However, more fun is to camp at the Edelweiss plateau (app 2700 a.s.l.) and climb the peak early morning day 2 to catch the sunrise.

Plenty of hotels of all standards in nearby Cipanas, Cipodas, Bogor area. Porters can be hired.
