For the adventurous, approach via forest service road 400 on the west side(Rogue River Natl. Forest map was accurate). End of the road is only 2mi. from summit, but cross-country terrain (i.e. no trail) is very steep, gaining 4000 feet. We actually didn't make summit as the snow was too slushy for snowshoes, and too deep to go without, but did make South Squaw Tip. I would like to go back under different conditions, maybe in early summer when Angel Wings still hold snow.
