Mount McLoughlin Trip Report (#9469)

I made my first trip to the top of Mount McLoughlin on a hot, sunny day in early October 1993. You reach the summit by way of a 6-mile trail heavily strewn with boulders. Most of the way is through forest, and there isn't much of a view until just below the summit. But once you get there, it's great. From the top of McLoughlin I was able to look down on Fourmile Lake and Klamath Lake, south to Mt. Shasta, north to the Crater Lake caldera and Mt. Thielsen. At the summit is the ruins of an old lookout. It's a good place to sit, eat your lunch and enjoy the view.
