Ravna gora (Flat mountain) is the northernmost Croatian mountain. Was made of limestone and dolomite. Is known for its cave Vindija, world-famous site Homo sapiens neanderthalensis. The cave was his last known habitat before extinction. From one's bones found in cave is the most isolated DNA for the H. s. neanderthalensis genome project.
