Thanks to Uwe Dengler for adding this peak.
The Hohenstaufen is a 684 m high table mountain in the Schwäbische Alb. Together with the Rechberg and the Stuifen it belongs to the "Drei Kaiserberge", i.e. the three Emperor Mountains. It is located between Göppingen and Schwäbisch Gmünd and has a characteristic volcanic cone.
The name Hohenstaufen is derived from its form which resembles a reversed cup, Germanic: "Stauf".
On top of the mountain there is the ruin of the family seat of the House of Hohenstaufen which provided the German kings and emperors in the 12th and the 13th century.
NOTE: Trip reports were previously called "Summit Logs" - same feature, new name
