Less well known mountain close to Grindelwald which is part of the Schreckhorn massif. The Mättenberg is acessible from the top station of the Pfingsteggbahn via the Berghaus Bäregg or from Grindelwald. The Berghaus Bäregg offers a nice view of the est flank of the Eiger, which became famous for the massive rockfall observed several years ago. The Mättenberg summit provides great views over Grindelwald and its mountains. The summit allows for a 270 degree panorama of the Wetterhorn, Mittelhorn, Rosenhorn, Berglistock, Schreckhorn, Finsteraarhorn, Fiescherhörner, Mönch, and Eiger as well as a view down in the Grindelwald valley.
