Mount Sherman Trip Report (#9859)

My third climb of Mt. Sherman, but my first in winter. I did this climb with my brother, Jim. Snow closure is about 1/2 mile east of Leavick, but we still were able to do it round-trip in 7 hrs 15 min. Since there was a cornice on the ridge between Mt. Sheridan and Mt. Sherman (which is the standard route in summer), we decided to climb up a drainage, then a steep, snow-free talus/scree slope leading to the saddle between Mt. Sherman and White Ridge. From there, it was a gentle hike on large snow-fields to the summit. Despite the clouds, the winds were light and the temps were warm. We spent 45 minutes at the top. We went on to the summit of White Ridge. One of my better climbs so far this year!
