Hochstaufen

Hochstaufen is a remarkable pyramid on the northern boarder of Bad Reichenhall valley. It is the second-highest point of a east-western chain of mountains between river Saalach in the East and river Traun in the West. Highest point of the chain is Zwiesel ( 1782 m, 5702 ft), also walk up , but less remarkable then Staufen.

From Padinger Alm ( inn ), 667 m,2134 ft situated northern above Bad Reichenhall on marked path to hut " Reichenhaller Haus "less below the top. Hut only opened in summer. 3 1/2 st. From the hut in 10 minutes on the top. Magnificent view. In summer very hot, no water on the mountain . Caution of thunderstorm !
