Großer Bruder is north-western side-rigde of the mountain Reiter Steinberge. The popular name of Reiter Steinberge is Reiteralm, you may find it easier under this name in many maps and in the literature. Großer Bruder is the highest point of a ridge branching off north-side of Reiteralm. In English the name means Big Brother, but don´t be afraid, the name comes from a fairy-tale and George Orwell is far away.

From the settlement Reith bei Lofer on a marked way through the Alpatal( Alpa Valley ) to hut Traunsteiner Hütte ( 5966 ft), German Alpine Club. 2 1/2 h. Form there on a good marked path through grass- slopes to the top, 1 1/2 h. Very nice view to the Saalach valley and the eastern Chiemgauer Alps ( Bavaria).

Middle Brother ( 6040 ft ) and Little Brother ( about 5940 ft) are rocky steep towers and can be reached only by scrambling ( difficulty II ( Mittlerer Bruder ), IV + ( Kleiner Bruder)
