Steinplatte

Steinplatte has to north a large, few inclined slope , it is in the western part a popular ski- lift -region. To south it shows a long and steep wall to valley Strubtal between Waidring (country of Tirol ) and Lofer ( country of Salzburg ).

Map : publishers Kompass, sheet 14, Berchtesgadener Alpen, Chiemgauer Alpen 1 : 50 000 ( in meters ). Steinplatte belongs to Chiemgauer Alpen.

In Waidring ( 2551 ft )ask for the beginning of the way, in upper part named Wieslochsteig. On an marked way through the steep southern slope to pasture Wemeteigenalm. Turning to the west and over a flat pasture meadow to begin of path Wieslochsteig. Upward a rocky wall ( partially wire-ropes )to the summit. 3 h

Descent to the north , then turning to south on marked ways, passing pasture GrĂ¼nwaldalm to Waidring, 2 h

Of course you can also go in July, but at this time the ascent may be very hot by the sun in the south slope.

From north ( pasture Winklmoosalm, some hotels ) and from east (village Unken ), Steinplatte is also a nice mountainbike excursion.
