Schlenken is not named in th google map. You need the map of publishers freytag & berndt, 1: 50 000 ( meters ), sheet WK 392 Tennengebirge, Lammertal, Osterhorngruppe.

From Hallein south on the mainroad direction Golling.Turn to left immediately when have passed a level crossing of railway. Pass Bad Vigaun and follow the road direction Trattberg- toll-road ( green signs) to the settlement Sommerau below community St. Koloman at the entrance to gorge Tauglschlucht.( appr. 2300 ft).

Descent on the road direction Kasbach to the bridge Hoher Steg. Turn to left, crossing brook Kasbach. Then to the right on marked path to Schlenken 2 1/2 h. Schlenken is one of the most popular" city- mountains " of Salzburg.

Descent to east over a ridge on marked path, partially cables to base of Schmittenstein. Now cross very exposed the north face of Schmittenstein using a small shelf, then over rocky steeps to Schmittenstein(n 5560 ft). Schmittenstein seen from the Salzach valley seems to be a fortress. 1 h

Descend to the shelf and walk to east, at last southeast over

pasture meadows to pasture Bergalm ( 4100 ft), managed in summer. 1 h. Steep ascent over rocky steps southeast to Regenspitze ( 5494 ft), 1 h. Over a ridge southeast to Gruberhorn (5681 ft) 3/4 st. South over the ridge to Dürlstein ( 5566 ft ) and to Hoher First ( 5635 ft). Descent to pasture Christlalm ( 4717 ft), 1 1/2 h. Christlalm is an inn managed in summer. Head of the tollroad to Trattberg.

Descent to northwest on marked path over Tuschenriedl in the Tauglboden , 1 h On the little road in this gorge back to car in Sommerau 1/2 h. Calculate for this extraordinary sight-seeing tour 10-12 h.

The only way out on this circular tour is from Bergalm to Tauglboden.
