Thanks to Roy Lindman and Marshall Hall for contributing to these details. (View history)
Wisshorn is located immediately north of Zermatt. It is an easy walk-up mountain, which can be reached in four hours following the Edelweiss path. Views are spectacular as one walks through a canyon with waterfalls. After one hour one comes to Pension Edelweiss and there after it takes an hour again to reach the Hotel Trift. Having a meal in one of the places makes a difference for usual mountaineering. Both places are also used to climb; Zinal Rothorn, Unter Gabelhorn, Wellenkuppe, Ober Gabelhorn, Platthorn, Mettelhorn, Hohenbalm and naturally Matterhorn.
Wisshorn is one of the easiest mountains to climb on from the Zermatt town and ideal for those who do not have good mountain experience, but would like to climb a mountain or watch friends climbing on the higher peaks !
Maybe there will be telescopes here one day !
