From Cottonwood Trail Head,I left the car at 7 AM. When I arrived at the base of Crestone Peak I climbed up the solid rock couloir to the saddle, and climbed the lower east summit first, then returned to the saddle and followed the cairns to the summit. The rock was solid all the way, at the top it was a little gravelly. The weather was perfect, no wind but cool. I could see climbers on Crestone Needle. The third 14,200' plus summit looked very difficult. The descent was easy on the solid rock with no snow at all, the north couloir was also snow free. I saw many Big Horn Sheep, agressive marmots, and picas. I arrived back at the car at 4:45 PM after a good hike. The upper trail was hard to follow at times.
