This can be easily done on skis in April/May, as for Mt Snowdome, with a camp on Columbia Icefield around on the west side of Snowdome. By comparison, the East ridge route is a climb and is better in August or September. We did this east ridge with a big group in 17 hrs RT from Athabasca parking lot. There are almost 6 pitches of 45 degree ice, a rappell into an exposed notch and a pitch of loose technical (5.4 maybe) rock to reach the top. The ski ascent from the west is simpler if you're familiar with glacier travel and get good weather. Views are of some of the biggest and best Canadian Rockies summits.
