Rattlesnake Butte

Rattlesnake Butte is an attractive butte, 2284 feet in elevation. It is a half mile long and 1/4 mile wide,located two miles west and three miles north of Wakpala SD. It holds Indian legends of mystical wild horses, and rattlesnakes. Access is an unimproved dirt road to the base of the butte from Mahto road a mile away. the butte is on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation.
